Teatro Petruzzelli
In the vibrant heart of Bari stands the majestic Teatro Petruzzelli, the largest theater in the city and one of the most important historic theaters in Italy. Inaugurated on February 14, 1903, with Meyerbeer’s Les Huguenots, the Petruzzelli is much more than a performance venue: it is a true temple of culture, art, and local identity.
From its very first seasons, it has hosted some of the greatest names in opera and world music — from Beniamino Gigli to Renata Tebaldi, from Herbert von Karajan to Luciano Pavarotti — pairing opera with a refined and eclectic program of musicals, ballets, symphony concerts, and major live productions.
On its stage, Italian and international legends such as Totò, Eduardo De Filippo, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Carla Fracci, and Liza Minnelli have performed, making it an essential landmark for those who want to experience the finest entertainment in Bari.
